BPC-157 β Research Overview
5 min read Β· Updated 2026-07-24
BPC-157 is one of the most widely studied peptides in preclinical research. This overview summarises what it is and the scientific contexts in which it appears, strictly from a research perspective.
What BPC-157 is
BPC-157 is a synthetic pentadecapeptide β a chain of 15 amino acids (sequence GEPPPGKPADDAGLV). It is derived from a partial sequence of a protein found in gastric juice, from which its name ("Body Protection Compound") originates. As a small, stable peptide it has become a common reference compound in laboratory studies.
At East Coast Labs, BPC-157 is supplied as a lyophilised powder with an independently published Certificate of Analysis for every batch.
Areas of scientific research interest
Published preclinical literature has explored BPC-157 in experimental models related to:
- Connective-tissue and tendon repair research
- Angiogenesis (blood-vessel formation) signalling studies
- Gastrointestinal mucosal protection models
- Cytoprotection and cellular-response research
It is frequently paired with TB-500 in tissue-repair research β the combination is available as our Recovery & Repair stack.
These are descriptions of research contexts only. Nothing here is a claim of efficacy, and this compound is not approved for therapeutic use by the TGA, FDA or any regulatory authority.
Physical & handling properties
- Format: lyophilised (freeze-dried) white powder
- Class: synthetic peptide, 15 amino acids
- Reconstitution: dissolves readily in bacteriostatic water; the solution should be clear
- Storage: refrigerate lyophilised vials; refrigerate and seal after reconstitution β see the storage guide
Purity and verification
Because BPC-157 is a widely sold compound, quality varies enormously across suppliers. The way to evaluate a batch is its Certificate of Analysis β HPLC purity and mass-spec identity from an independent lab. Every East Coast Labs batch is tested and published before listing, and any vial can be checked by its batch number. For how to read those results, see How to Read a COA.
Supplied strictly as an investigational research compound for laboratory use only. Not for human or animal consumption. We do not provide dosing or administration guidance.
